This blog is all about me and my life- my adventures, struggles, shopping sprees, and NYC dreams. I have a healthy fondness for accessories- especially bags, luggage and jewelry.
to go to London just to visit Harrod's? I'm planning to purchase my tickets this week so I can begin to get the plan in motion but I'm wondering where I should start. For the avid travelers, please advise me. I'd do other things too like visit Big Ben, Buckingham, Tower of London, Hyde Park and Covent Garden. I've checked flights from the US and London and Amsterdam are the least expensive European cities to fly into. And the deals are amazing for booking early. I can get a round trip ticket from DC-> London or Amsterdam for $700 if I book now so I don't want to miss this deal. Should I fly into London or Amsterdam? I may not get to visit the city that I chose not to fly into/out of so I want to choose the best city. I really wanted to get these totes from Harrods and a few gifts for my friends. I really want the Telephone booth lighter that Sharon Stone used in Basic Instinct...Silly, I know but I really love it and can't find one anywhere. I don't smoke, so I'd be using it to light my oil diffusers.
I have 1 month to spend traveling before I run out of time and money, so I want to get the biggest bang for my buck. I was advised by a friend that I should visit as many places as possible but for at least 2-3 days in each city. I thought that was a good idea, but would that be enough time to actually "feel" the cities? I don't want to spend too much time and energy checking in and out of hotels and flying or boarding trains.
For this reason, I thought that choosing 2 cities and spending 2 weeks in each city would be a better option. Is 2 weeks too long? Will I get bored spending 2 weeks in one city? Now that I'm writing it down, 2 weeks seems a bit long for a tourist. So, I think I'll opt for 3-4 days in each city. I'm thinking of the following itinerary: DC->London->Paris->Milan->Venice->Rome->London->DC and maybe a few days in the Caribbean after I'm back to DC.
Planned loot from Harrod's...
my favorite
gotta get a few of these...
perfect

I woke up Sunday morning craving oatmeal cookies and I really don't know why. Maybe it was Paula Dean that got the idea of banging pots and pans early in the morning stuck in my head. So, I went to pick up the goods and bake up something tasty.
Then I got a little carried away and decided to add cinnamon, pecans and raisins. I just love how everything works with oatmeal. The perfect cookie for a tall glass of milk.
They turned out delicious but, as expected, they didn't last long. I'll be baking again tonight with a different recipe.
Yesterday was one of those jam packed from morning to midnight days. But at least I got a lot done. I met with my adviser at school, got fitted for my cap and gown and bumped into a friend in the bookstore. And guess what? Monty's coming back to visit next week. You don't remember Monty? How could you forget him?
This is Monty.
When I heard that Lisa Jackson from the EPA would be on campus to address some much debated issues, I had to clear my afternoon to get there. Clearing my afternoon entailed going straight to the bank and back instead of browsing around downtown at H&M and the other spots. But, I did manage to squeeze in lunch at Zengo after a last minute recommendation from a friend.
And I had the salmon bento box. Pretty appetizing. Small, but appetizing. For $14, I won't complain because the quality of the food was pretty good. But, I still prefer Teaism for bento boxes.

I rushed home after lunch to freshen up for the rest of the day. I've been waiting patiently for an event to wear my new YSL tie and tie tack.
I need new dress shoes. I want to go on a serious shoe shopping spree over the summer. Maybe during my travels so I'll be sure to pack light and bring an empty duffel for my loot. I'm just waiting to clear out my closet first.
Photo op at the crosswalk. I bet people think I'm crazy and I really don't care.
I arrived just on time and got a pretty good seat.
This lady is so talented and intelligent. Her entire speech was smooth and captivating- no breaks, no stuttering. She's an excellent speaker and it actually sounded and felt natural- not rehearsed at all. I really felt her sincere concern for the environment and for all of humanity. She rides the metro to work just like the rest of us. I laughed (with my inside voice) when she said that she wore dark sunglasses on the metro and gets annoyed when people notice her and want to talk about work. I just can't imagine her being rude. Well, actually, yes I could. Anyone can get snappy given the right conditions. I know I sure can.

Honored with an award.
I'm developing a new fondness for ties. As I was looking around my closet, I noticed that most of my ties are blue. Blue is such a versatile color and a good tie will last a lifetime, so get the ones you love while you can.
I've wanted a YSL tie tack for years but could never find one. Finally, it popped up in NY and I purchased immediately. I'll never let it go.
This week has been my busiest in quite a while so I wasn't able to give as many updates as I wanted but I've found a solution- a smaller laptop.
My new 2 pound Asus EEE should arrive anyday now and I will be able to carry it around everywhere. I just can't lug around a 6 pound laptop in addition to books, notebooks, and other essentials. I feel like I need a grocery shopping cart just to go to class.
I went for some shopping yesterday after class and ended up being out of the house ALL DAY. I was all over the city from metro (yes I got on) to cab to bus back to cab and had a blast. But I can't do it too often because I still have to save for Europe in 2 months. I can't believe I only have 2 months. I really need to put a move on my planning.
Another decision. Which coat? Doesn't really matter.
On Thursday, I bumped into a friend on campus. He stays busy and his overflow of energy is contagious. We keep saying we're going to hang out and go shopping or out for lunch but we just never get around to it. It's really funny that I have a lot of friends that I've known for years and we always say the same things and just never get around to it. Well, we went out for lunch, ran a few errands and watched The Devil Wears Prada- an all-time favorite.
Meet J!
It's so unfortunate that we can't hang out anymore. Why, you say? Because two of us together is just too much. We agreed and LOL'd hysterically. People stare at us like we're pets the National Zoo. And others like to make comments- "Work it honey." Work what? You don't even know me. Yes, I have a job. It's just embarrassing. I don't dress up to get attention or comments. I just like accessories. What's so bad about that?
On to my little LV reveal.
Tada... Louis Vuitton Monogram Groom Round
I've wanted it for quite a while and finally found one a while ago and had to get it.
Remember the groom collection of 2007? Or was it 2006? I don't feel like going to get it to check the date code.
Bloomingdale's yesterday. I also went to LV to see the new porte document voyage GM briefcases but they were not in the store. I think the graphite of ebene GM will be my next bag if the size is right. I love those bags.
More $2 million condo construction. Uggh...This city has ENOUGH condos. Why don't these people get that?
Something got my attention at Loehmann's too. Vernier is such a good fashion watch maker. They make some of the best trendy watches I've ever seen.
Too bad men's clothing was a mess. But, what's new about that?
I brought a few goodies home.
Small reveal tomorrow
I'm off for class and to hear Lisa P. Jackson of the Environmental Protection Agency deliver a lecture on "Leadership Today, Tomorrow: Meeting the Needs of the Global Community". I can't wait.
